About PCSS
The Philippine Catholic Schools Standards (PCSS) is a document that was launched by the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) in 2016, for Basic Education during the CEAP's 75th National Convention and in 2021 for Higher Education during the CEAP C.O.N.G.R.E.S.S., and it is now used by over 1,500 Catholic schools in the country. The document describes what makes a school excellent and distinctively Catholic, based on the mind and heart of the Catholic Church, as expressed in the official documents and statements on education. It is integrated and culturally adapted, designed to promote and uphold the Philippine Catholic school as an ecclesial instrument and agent of evangelization. Through the defining characteristics, standards, benchmarks, and rubrics, the PCSS provides a point of reference, a roadmap to direct and monitor the effectiveness of a Catholic school while remaining faithful to its identity and mission.
The PCSS document is primarily a document for collective reflection, enabling a school with its various and diverse stakeholders to systematically examine its performance and meaningfully engage in an authentic and dynamic process of continuous improvement and renewal. PCSS is an important tool for ensuring that Catholic schools in the Philippines are providing a high-quality education that is rooted in the Catholic faith.
